Blaine Automotive Recycling Day Results

The first annual Blaine Automotive Recycling Day was held on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the National Sports Center. This was a joint effort by John’s Auto Parts, Veolia Environmental Services, National Sports Center, and Free2B!.

The focus was to encourage car donations for Free2B! as well as give residents a place to dispose of their automotive parts and fluids.

Free2B! reported that they received 4 vehicles that are being evaluated for donation to needy families. For more information about donating or receiving a vehicle, see www.freetobeinc.org.

John’s Auto Parts (www.johnsauto.com) and Veolia Environmental Services (www.veoliatwincities.com) received for recycling and disposal:

  • 438 Tires

  • 44 Batteries plus several motorcycle/ATV batteries

  • 3 Tons of Mixed Scrap Metal (The scrap value was donated to Free2B!)

  • 1 Car that Free2B! was unable to fix (The scrap value was donated to Free2B!)

  • 300 Gallons of Oil

  • 75 Gallons of Antifreeze

  • 55-gallon drum of oil filters

  • ¾ Tons of trash

Thank you to the National Sports Center (www.nscsports.org) for donating their location and to the community for your recycling efforts. Together, we can make this a cleaner world for future generations.
